Drywall is a panel made of calcium sulfate dehydrate (gypsum) with or without additives and normally pressed between a facer and a backer. It is used to make interior walls and ceilings.
A wallboard panel consists of a layer of gypsum plaster sandwiched between two layers of paper. The raw gypsumis heated to drive off the water then slightly rehydrated to produce the hemihydrate of calcium sulfate. The plaster is mixed with additives to give desirable properties like fire resistance and lower water absorption. The board is then formed by sandwiching a core of the wet mixture between two sheets of heavy paper or fibreglass mats. When the core sets it is then dried in a large drying chamber, and the sandwich becomes rigid and strong enough for use as a building material.
As an alternative to a week-long plaster application, an entire house can be dry walled in one or two days. The method of installation and type of drywall can reduce sound transmission through walls and ceilings. When used as a component in fire barriers, drywall is a passive fire protection item.
Due to the user-friendly attribute of Drywall, it is now widely used in the construction field. To construct garage, store room, basement or even the whole house. Hence estimation for drywall has become important. The estimation is based on the cost per square footage of the surface. Once the amount of square foot to cover the total surface is known, no. of panels of drywall is estimated.
Make this estimation easy by working on the ready template. Just enter the dimension of the room, garage or house, no. of walls, get the total area to be covered, and the estimation of total drywall panels required with the complete cost estimation.
